REVISING: SEXUALITY AND GENDER IN ARGENTINA'S LEFT-WING CULTURE IN THE EIGHTIES

Category:

Abstract:
During the 1980s, sectors of Argentine leftist culture revised their recent history in political and everyday terms, including sexual and gender aspects. The revisions arose from the leftwing crisis and the need to redefine the characteristics of militancy, generating a dialogue with the democratic opening and the “destape”. Left-wing cultural magazines were the spaces where positions and, in some cases, new proposals were developed. This article takes up those debates that allow us to observe the changes in gender and sexual dissidence in left-wing culture in recent history.
